Ethical Dilemmas
25th of September saw 'Team 1' tackle the wide and varied subject of ethical dilemmas. Caron went through the recent mental capacity act (MCA) whilst trying to make it relevant to every day to day practice for GPs. Later on, a number of role plays were devised to help put the MCA (2005) into a more meaningful view. We were given a variety of situations, both common and not common that the GP may be faced with and how best to face them.
Cakes were provided by Elena, again, many thanks.
Hot topic was 'the Doctors Bag' from Alex (w)
Afterwards Jason did a short power point presentation/quiz on some ethical dilemmas that he had come across whilst working for the mental health team. These included how to approach patients who are in an inappropriate (sexual) relationship together and how to deal with more elderly patients.
