North Worcestershire VTS
Autumn Residential 2011
21-22nd Sept 2011
Dear All,
I am re-sending this email (with corrections) and to the new ST1s whom we
wholeheartedly welcome to the VTS and look forward to working with you over the
next 3 years. For new ST1s there will be further information about the initial
session to be held on the Thursday afternoon before the residential, venue to be
confirmed, but probably at the Alex PGMC. Meantime please make sure you arrange
leave to be available from 2pm as we will go over the nuts and bolts of the VTS
on that day.
Now for the main reason for emailing. As we agreed at the feedback meeting at
the end of the summer term, we have arranged a residential for the start of this
VTS year. This is the important date you have all been waiting for and may not
be on the website until Chris returns from his holiday late in August.
Those of you who have been on the VTS a year or two, I expect, are eagerly
anticipating another great experience and those who are new will be wondering
what the residential will involve. You will have an opportunity to really get to
know the group and find out why this is the most important event of our year.
Our aims are to have an opportunity to reform as a group, to begin to get to
know the new members, to gain some insights into being a GP, to plan our
timetable and to do this in relaxing surroundings.
Please get on and book your book study leave, as it is vital that you attend the
residential. You gain most if you stay overnight so we expect you to stay in the
hotel, Stourport Manor Hotel, 35 Hartlebury Road Worcestershire, Stourport on
Severn , DY13 9JA, This is a change of venue from the traditional one and we
hope it will be pleasant change. We start at 6pm prompt on Wednesday 21th
September and depart at around 5pm on the 22nd. (Apologies that previous dates
were wrong - this IS correct.)
There are some important things I need to know for planning purposes. Please
complete the following by cutting and pasting it into a reply to me and send
your reply as soon as you can. The hotel need final numbers in plenty of time,
so reply by 2.9.11.
1. Name
2. Overnight stay Y/N
3. Please indicate if you wish to share a room Y/N and with whom
....................
4. Vegetarian Y/N
Funding: For those in GP placements, this comes out of the study leave budget
we hold for you but please send a cheque for £50 which will be returned at the
residential. You can send the cheque to me, made out to Hereford and Worcester
GP Education, at the address below. Those currently working in hospital will be
billed and then need to reclaim from your hospital study leave fund. The cost
will be £130. This cost is the same whether you are resident or not.
There are always a few who have difficulty finding the hotel, so, if your
navigating skills leave something to be desired, I suggest you give yourself
plenty of time to get there.
As a tradition we go for a walk after lunch on Thursday, so bring appropriate
clothing and your walking boots. If you have time, you may be able to use the
leisure facilities including swimming pool while you are there.
Hoping I haven't forgotten any details!
Yours excitedly
Gilly
