North Worcestershire VTS

Autumn Residential 2008

17/18.09.08

As you know the VTS residential is due to be held at the Three Ways House Hotel in Mickleton  (www.puddingclub.com ) on Weds 17th and Thursday 18th Sept 2008. As Steve has already said, we will be starting at 6pm on the Wednesday and finishing around 5pm on the Thursday. We will be having dinner on the Weds and breakfast & lunch on the Thursday.

The cost will be borne by the VTS budget for all those doctors currently working in GP, whether as ST1,2 or 3. Doctors currently working in a hospital post are asked to pay a course fee which is reimbursed in full through the study leave budget from the hospital. This is usually paid by personal cheque on the day and then claimed back. The payee is North Worcestershire VTS and I am pleased to say that we have managed to hold the cost to the same level as last year (and the year before) at £160. I think next yr the price might have to increase as has the cost of everything, it seems.

The residential is a very important part of the VTS year and has proved to be extremely popular and enjoyable in the past. I’m very much looking forward to seeing you all there.

We have an action packed and fun-filled programme planned for you and, as promised, here is something to get your thinking started.

As part of the Wednesday evening activities, we would like you to think of a skill you have, that you would be prepared to teach to another member of the VTS. The skill doesn’t have to be particularly complex but you can be as imaginative as possible and you might like to steer away from medical related skills. You can bring props with you if you like.

Bear in mind that the skill:

Has to be something you can teach in 5-10 mins

Has to be something that you would enjoy teaching and others would enjoy learning

Has to be something that can be demonstrated to the group

So get your thinking caps on and start planning what you’re going to teach and how.

I will just take the opportunity to remind those that have yet to reply that I would like them to do so but will also be sending a specific email to them today.

NB I would also like to remind you all that the session on Wednesday starts at 6pm. Please try and arrive on time as you will get most out of the evening if you do. It is disruptive and disrespectful to your colleagues to arrive after the session has started. I particularly direct this towards those VTS members who are habitually late. If you set off early enough, you will get there on time.

Looking forward to seeing you

Regards
