14th ANNUAL FACULTY PRIMARY CARE SYMPOSIUM IN RESEARCH, EVIDENCE & INNOVATION

WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH 2001

 FREE TO  GP REGISTRARS

9.30 - 4.30 pm City Hospital Postgraduate Medical Centre Dudley Road, Birmingham

Posters should be 594mm x 420mm (AZ Size), and should include:

•:• A title

•:• An abstract

•:• Text & diagrams

•:• Name of author's), their addresses)

A take-away handout, which might be a printed reduction of your poster

The poster should communicate your message as simply as possible, so do not allow it to become clogged with too much detail. Layout ideas can be gleaned by looking through newspapers and magazines or, better still, from graphic design books and journals. Text should be large enough to be read at the viewing distance, which is likely to be one metre. The smallest letter should be at least 5mm high and preferably larger. Good quality titles and text can be produced with a word-processor and a high-resolution (preferably laser) printer. These can be enlarged as required, on a photocopier or photographically.

(Further tips on preparing a poster can be found in A Handbook for Medical Teachers third edition, Chapter 2: Making A Presentation at a Scientific Meeting. David Newble, Robert Cannon. ISBN 0-7023-8850-X)
