We are a ten-partner (6 full-time, 4 part-time) practice with 16200 patients, in a market town setting. We have been a training practice for over thirty years, and many of our registrars have obtained posts locally.
We work from purpose built premises opened in 1992, and the registrar has a dedicated and well-equipped consulting room. We have an extensive library with computer/internet access. The practice is fully computerised ("VISION" system), and we are working towards paperless records. Out of hours work is with the Wyre Forest Primary care centre, and the commitment is about one in twenty nights, one weekend day shift every five weeks, and one in three Saturday morning surgeries.
We run an exchange scheme for one or two weeks with a local rural training practice, and there is an opportunity to spend some time in a single-handed practice in The Lake District, usually in the summer.
The large and enthusiastic primary care team are all committed to the educational process, and we provide a happy, secure and stimulating opportunity for the aspiring GP Registrar, with regular tutorials, and in-house educational activities. The practical component of family planning training (including coils) is available in-house.
