NORTH WORCESTERSHIRE VTS
STUDY LEAVE PROTOCOL
AS OF SEPTEMBER 2004
GP Registrars in 12/12 posts are eligible for up to a maximum of £200.00 study leave allowance (VTS residential sessions will be paid for from the VTS budget and not out of this £200)
GP Registrars in 6/12 posts including Women’s Health, innovative posts and extensions are eligible for up to a maximum of £100.00 study leave (VTS residential sessions will be paid for from the VTS budget and not out of this £100)
Study leave is not cumulative i.e. a GP Registrar who goes on to do an extension will be entitled to £200 towards courses attended during the GPR year and £100 towards courses attended during the 6 month extension.
SHO study leave including the VTS residential sessions will be provided through their hospital study leave budget.
Courses will be funded only if they take place during the time when the applicant is a GP Registrar within the North Worcestershire VTS (i.e. the date when the payment is made is not relevant).
A receipt must be provided before any reimbursement is made.
Part time registrars will have the normal entitlement proportional to their part-time work commitment.
Travel costs are not reimbursable.
Exam fees are not reimbursable.
Courses will only be funded if they have a direct relevance to general practice. The following courses are approved in advance:

| Family Planning courses |
| Child Health Surveillance |
| Minor surgery courses |
| CPR and ALS |
Other courses may be allowable but in case of doubt, approval from the Course Organisers should be attained.
Some courses are funded by the deanery and should not be taken from the VTS study leave budget.
